The Ratio Of Indonesians With Higher Education is Very Low, is President Joko Widodo Surprised?

Detiknews | Jakarta - Monday, (15/1/24), President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo or Jokowi, admitted that he was shocked when he saw data on the ratio of highly educated people in Indonesia, which turned out to be very low. Until then, in this case Jokowi said he would find a solution or a way out in this problem.

"The ratio of the population with master's and doctoral degrees to the productive population is still very low. I was surprised yesterday when I got this number," President Jokowi said when opening the XXIX Convention and XXV Annual Meeting of the Indonesian Rectors Forum in Surabaya, on Monday (15/1/24).

Furthermore, Jokowi also compared this figure with neighboring countries, such as Vietnam and Malaysia. As a result, the ratio of the highly educated population to the productive population in Indonesia is still inferior.

According to President Jokowi, Indonesia is at 0.45%. Meanwhile, neighboring countries, such as Vietnam and Malaysia, are already at 2.43%. As for developed countries, it is 9.8%, and the comparison is clearly far away.

Thus, then Jokowi also said that he would hold a meeting about this problem, which later he would issue certain policies, so that this figure could be pursued, and although he also said it was still unclear where the budget would come from.
